Clear aligners are virtually invisible, comfortable, predictable and the patient preferred way to straighten your teeth. Clear Aligners move teeth into their ideal position, leaving you with a beautiful smile!
Clear Aligners, is the product name. You may know of many brands of clear aligners such as Invisalign, Rapid smile and Spark. Here at Evolution Dental Care, due to experience Dr Dayna has gained over many years, she prefers to use the Spark aligners, only allowed for use by dental specialists at this stage.

Some reasons to consider if Clear Aligners may be right for you:
  • Are your teeth difficult to floss and often get calculus/tartar between them?
  • Do you look at your teeth and feel they are not in the right place?
  • Do you have gaps between your teeth?
  • Are your teeth crowded?
  • Have you previously had braces and now your teeth have moved?
Clear Aligners have many benefits over traditional braces. Not only do they still straighten teeth, they also offer the following benefits:
  • Easier to clean teeth
  • Clear
  • Removable
  • Gently move teeth
  • Comfortable
  • Predictable tooth movements
  • Less emergencies than traditional braces

Benefits of Treatment Type

– Effective for very severe or complex cases
– Permanent bonding means consistent progress
– Colourful rubber bands
– Multiple braces types
– Time-tested reliability

– Discreet, nearly-invisible look

Downsides of Treatment

– Noticeable metal appliance
– Food restrictions
– Can trap bacteria
– Can be uncomfortable/cause irritation in mouth
– May be difficult to clean leading to decay around brackets
– Increased chances of root resorption
– May require pre-aligner therapy such as expansion or jaw repositioning devices

– Must remember to wear aligners 22 hours a day – compliance based
– Aligners can stain or discolour
– More easily broken, damaged, or lost
– May require pre-aligner therapy such as expansion or jaw repositioning devices. This can shorten aligner time, but if the patient does not want these options, they can be integrated into the aligners most of the time.

Clear Aligner treatment can help correct all types of dental issues. These are know as dental malocclusions which include tooth crowding, tooth spacing, overbite, underbite and crossbite. Instead of wearing braces brackets you wear clear thin aligners that are changed at 7-14 day intervals depending on your specific case.
CROWDING*
Crowding occurs when you don’t have enough space for all your teeth to fit within the jaws. The teeth may be rotated or overlap.
CROSSBITE*
A crossbite is misalignment of the arches.
DEEP BITE*
A deep bite is when the upper front teeth excessively overlap the bottom front teeth when the back teeth are closed.
OPEN BITE*
An open bite is most commonly seen when your back teeth are closed and touching, but your front teeth do not touch.
OVERBITE*
This occurs when the upper and lower teeth don’t meet properly and in some cases protrude outwards.
SPACING*
Spacing occurs when you have extra space resulting in gaps between the teeth.
UNDERBITE*
Underbite occurs when the lower teeth extend past the upper front teeth.

Frequently Asked
How does it work?

Distinctively re-engineer revolutionary meta-services, change management and premium architectures. Intrinsically incubate intuitive opportunities and real-time potentialities.
Your first appointment

You will see one of our talented dental practitioners, with an extreme eye for detail. The best treatments stem from the best diagnostics of patients current conditions and needs.
We will take measurements of your teeth, photos, questionnaires of your sleep and dental habits, and take a scan of your teeth and mouth.

Your Second appointment

After thorough analysis, you will meet with our principal dentist and she will discuss your diagnostic findings and treatment options. In some cases, pre-aligner therapy may be required to create enough space in your mouth with our extractions, or to help reduce time in clear aligners.

Third Appointment

When you are ready for clear aligners and have consented to the treatment plan, your clear aligner customised prescription will be completed and sent to the laboratory for making of your clear aligners.

The third appointment occurs once your clear aligners are ready to be issued. Little tooth coloured attachments will be placed on some teeth to help with their movement.

Fourth Appointment

A Review of how your treatment is going, and issuing of your next few sets of aligners. Aligners will be changed every 7-14 days depending on your specific needs. This will continue until you are ready for a refinement series of aligners or are finished treatment.

Refinement Aligners

In some cases, we may want to order some more aligners, to ensure your smile results are the best they can be. This is done via removing previous tooth attachments, scanning and sending to the lab for further improvements.

Aftercare/Retention

After any orthodontic tooth movement, we recommended fixed retention of orthodontic wired behind the upper and lower anterior front 4-6 teeth long term. As we age naturally, our teeth move, and so it is particularly important to prevent this natural movement following orthodontic treatment. We will also recommend a night time retainer that is removable for 1-2 years post treatment for your best results.

As well as providing retainers, we also recommended maintenance care with the dental team every 6 months for regular check ups and cleaning.
